Alan is a wildlife photographer based in Northumberland, not far from one of his favourite wildlife photography locations….. the incredible Farne Islands! Alan also regularly migrates south to the warmer climates of Kenya’s Masai Mara and South Africa’s Greater Kruger, and north to the beautiful Isle of Skye on the west coast of Scotland.
As well as arranging and leading his own wildlife photography workshops and tours, Alan also works as a photography safari guide for South African based Penda Photo Tours. He also also leads ‘Xperience Days’ for camera and lens manufacturers, Fujifilm and works alongside fellow Northern Photography Collective member, Nick Watson.
Alan has written and illustrated many wildlife photography articles for various national and international photography magazines and websites, as well as working with newspapers and TV productions on wildlife photography features. He is an experienced speaker and regularly presents his work at photographic and nature society events.
Although his wildlife photography encompasses a range of styles, he increasingly looks to photograph species in a way which depicts their natural history by including their habitat and relationships with other species.
Alan uses Fujifilm mirrorless cameras and lenses and he is a UK brand ambassador for Formatt-Hitech filters.
